• Then it's a good time into the Plains and Midwest on Sunday

• The cold will impact the central and western thirds of the country

• It's already cold today in the Plains with highs 10 to 20 degrees below average

• Then a big chill arrives from the Northwest to Texas over this weekend and Monday

• Sunday morning could have several record lows in the Northwest, followed by a very cold Monday morning from Portland to Omaha

Entrée is Fire Weather ⭐⭐

• Colorado and California are monitoring fire weather situations

• Colorado has two more days of elevated threat with gusty winds impacting the ongoing fires through Saturday

• Snow on Sunday will help out Colorado fire threats

• Fire weather increases in northern California on Sunday and Monday, and southern California on Monday

• The northern California event is of most concern with particularly strong winds going into Monday

• Numerous red flag warnings and fire weather watches are issued for the events ahead

Dessert, Tropics ⭐

• Epsilon is moving away from Bermuda now and is bringing rough surf to about the entire Atlantic

• Invest 95-L is in the Caribbean Sea with a 60% chance of any formation

• This one is still a question with changing options from the forecast models

It's Chilly in the Middle ⭐

• Fall is felt with frost and freeze advisories for many in the Midwest

• A round of cold air makes its way to the East late this week

• It looks to be short lived on the Atlantic coast with warmer temperatures next week, but another round of cold air keep the central US cold

• While it is a taste of fall chill, it does not look to break many daily records

Southwest Stays Warm with Fire Weather ⭐⭐

• Quite a few near daily record highs are forecasted for California and the Southwest

• Fire weather is at least elevated and gusty winds will combine with dry and warm weather

• A moderate Santa Ana wind event is likely for southern California tonight and early tomorrow

• The region is staying dry while a few showers move through the Pacific Northwest

October Tropics ⭐

• A few obnoxious low pressure areas want to try to throw hands

• It will be several days before anything can show potential

• The Atlantic hurricane season lasts until the end of November

Tropical Storm Delta ⭐⭐⭐

• Tropical Storm Gamma looks to weaken over the Yucatan Peninsula and not impact the US

• Gamma could even just get absorbed by Delta

• Tropical Storm Delta is expected to strengthen and make a landfall on the Gulf Coast at the end of this week

• While track changes are not out of the question, there is a lot of agreement with models with a Louisiana landfall on Friday

• Intensity is always a question with many ingredients (water temp? Gamma interaction? small size/quick changes?), and models suggest a category 1 or 2 at landfall

• Heavy rain, storm surge, and gusty winds are all likely impacts from Thursday through Saturday

West Chance of Rain ⭐

• It's warm and dry in the West early this week

• But at last, rain moves in this weekend even for California

• It will not be enough rain to put an end to California's fire season but it will be very helpful
